David Huether, chief economist at the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM, Washington, DC), claims that “export growth will be a real shot in the arm for manufacturers in 2008. [That’s what has] kept the economy out of recession during the most recent two quarters. Exports of manufactured goods are up 11 percent this year vs. 2007.
