Assembly - April 2009 - (Page 13) Marking System Eliminates Headaches The 781RC MicroMark recirculating spray marking system uses a recirculating pump to keep pigments in suspension, thereby eliminating the maintenance and downtime that results when felt pads become contaminated with debris or spray valves are clogged by heavy pigments. The valve also employs a short burst of air after each cycle to clear the nozzle of any residue. In addition to ensuring that marking inks and paints perform as intended, the system is reliable and easy to service, improving both efficiency and the bottom line. The 781RC MicroMark can be used to color-code components that look alike, indicate pass-fail status after testing, or indicate whether a specific process has been performed. The systems typically include a number of profiling or single-point laser displacement sensors mounted on one or more servo-positioning devices to accommodate a wide range of part sizes. Larger parts are manually loaded onto a rotary dial table with an integrated part nest or some other kind of holding device. Smaller parts can be either bowl fed or fed from a magazine cartridge. Options include a laser micrometer, machine-vision inspection cameras, a bar-code scanner, label printer, precision scales and a material handling packing conveyor.
