CircuiTree - December 2008 - (Page 8) IPC Releases September PCB Industry Results Bannockburn, Ill. – IPC released the September findings from its North American PCB Statistical Program, reporting that rigid PCB shipments were down 3.8 percent and bookings were down 16.4 percent compared to September 2007. Rigid PCB shipments yearto-date were up 4.2 percent and bookings were down 0.8 percent. Compared to August 2008, rigid PCB shipments were up 4.5 percent and rigid bookings were up 11.0 percent. The book-to-bill ratio for the North American rigid PCB industry in September moved up slightly to 0.96. For September, flexible circuit shipments increased 9.0 percent and bookings increased 25.2 percent compared to September 2007. Flexible circuit shipments year-to-date were up 9.0 percent and bookings were down 5.3 percent. Compared to August, flexible circuit shipments were down 4.7 percent and flex bookings increased 50.8 percent. The North American flexible circuit book-to-bill ratio in September improved to 0.94. For rigid PCBs and flexible circuits combined, industry shipments in September were down 3.1 percent from September 2007 and orders booked decreased 14.2 percent from September 2007. Combined industry shipments year-to-date increased 4.5 percent and bookings decreased 1.1 percent. Compared to the August, combined industry shipments for September were up 3.8 percent and bookings were up 13.3 percent.
