The McCullough residence is a green, healthy home that was commissioned by an EPA scientist for her private residence. The objective was to create a healthy home with optimum energy efficiencies, that is affordable, aesthetically pleasing, and has a minimal impact on the environment during both its construction and use. “I believe we have an opportunity to enhance our quality of life through the built environment,” says Sophie Piesse of Sophie Piesse Architect, P.A., the architect for the project. “Our homes should meet functional needs while complementing our lifestyles; say something about who we are, as well as maintaining sensitivity to the earth, its resources and our place in it.” As an architect whose community involvement and work efforts reflect her commitment to the environment, her innovative residential designs for both new 64 http://www.sustainablehomemag.com
