ETA Custom Print - May/June 2008 - (Page 19) »EXTRAORDINAIRE: MASTER PROGRAM he Master Certified Electronics Technician is ETA’s highest level of certification recognition. Attaining this level of recognition is difficult. In ETA’s 30-year history, only 201 individuals out of thousands of certified professionals have received the Master CET credential. To become a Master in your industry is a lifetime achievement. The requirements for the Master CET are a minimum of six years combined education/work experience in an electronics related field, attaining the Associate CET, as well as passing six different technical specialties of journeyman level exams. Initially, the Master level was developed to represent a highly seasoned professional whose knowledge exhibited expertise over numerous specialty areas of electronics. ETA’s master certification exams are intended for, but not limited to, service technicians, technician-managers, consultants, electronics educators and professional electronics engineers who have been active in our industry, http://www.eta-i.org/CET.html. Because of emerging technologies and new certifications offered by ETA, this chart will clarify the master level options in fields where multiple options exist. Comprehensive Electronics Certifications NEW ETA has recently teamed up with NIDA educational systems this five-module certification program to fulfill the demand for a global workforce development initiative. Each module is comprised of both a practical and theory exam on a specific segment of our fundamental electronics competencies; DC, AC, Analog, Digital, and other basics. Each module will serve as a stand-alone mini-certification, but the set expectation will be for the students to complete the CET certification program along with further ETA certifications as they advance their careers. Though this certification program was designed for an international application, we foresee that this format will become increasingly applicable to workforce development agencies, high schools technical programs and military training. We welcome the opportunity to work with others with a specific certification requirement. If you have experience working or training in any of these technology fields: Commercial Audio, Communications, RFID, Computer Electronics, Biomedical and Aviation, we invite you to apply to participate as subject matter experts on various technical committees.
