C O M PA NY NEWS CSG Launches Global Advancement in Green Technology ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – CSG, Rochester Hills, MI, is set to begin the patented production of its PURETi™ photocatalytic surface treatment products at a facility in Auburn Hills, MI. It will be the only location in North America where the new technology is formulated and manufactured. The green technology has the capability to minimize damaging air pollutants such as greenhouse gases and VOCs, can significantly reduce water and energy consumption, and can create sustainable, self-cleaning surfaces. PURETi ultraviolet photocatalytic technology (UV-PCO) transforms surfaces into sustainable, self-cleaning, airpurifying and odor-eliminating materials. It uses energy from ultraviolet light to continuously and proactively break down all organic materials, including grime, bio-film, smog-causing greenhouse gases, harmful VOCs and stubborn organic odors such as tobacco smoke. Typically, surfaces treated with PURETi products are easier to clean and need to be cleaned half as often. With an efficacy of up to three years, PURETi cuts in half the water, energy, chemicals and labor used in cleaning. “UV-PCO technology is an $800 million industry in Europe and Asia, and they are using versions of the technology developed decades ago,” said Craig Andrews, Chief Executive Officer, CSG. “PURETi UV-PCO technology, which is supported by 13 international patents, is the world’s most advanced.” The company anticipates $20-30 million in sales by the end of 2009, with that number quadrupling in three to five years. TDC Filter Moves to Bolingbrook, IL BOLINGBROOK, IL – TDC Filter, a manufacturer of cartridge and pleated filters, has announced a new facility located in Bolingbrook, IL. The new 100,000-square-foot building is located in the heart of the Midwest distribution corridor, which makes shipping products faster and more efficient. The new facility also houses new manufacturing lines and an analytical laboratory and practical laboratory. Velsicol Chemical Business Now Genovique Specialties Corp. ROSEMONT, IL – The Plastic Additives, Benzoic Acid & Derivatives Business of Velsicol Chemical Corp. is now known as Genovique Specialties Corp. South Coast California Air Quality District now requires that multistage clearcoats have a 250g/L (2.1 lb./ gal.) VOC-emissions rating or better. Canada’s new regulation matches California but won’t be required until 2010. Single-stage clearcoats will require a 340 g/L (2.8 lb./gal.) emission rating in California and a 420 g/L (3.5 lb./gal.) in Canada. The new product falls into the single application category of 1.2 lb./gal., with VOC emissions well below EPA, California and Canada’s standards. Testing of the new product has proved it is durable to environmental stresses, compatible with all waterborne and solvent-based paints, and provides a shine that matches or exceeds current market standards. A very important feature of the new clearcoat is the absence of any isocyanates, a chemical that has been proven to cause medical conditions from asthma to cancer. The new technology is in the final stages of testing; a January 2009 release date is anticipated. Kansas Firms Introduce Waterborne Clearcoat for Cars LENEXA, KS – Two Kansas companies, Premier Paint 2000 Inc. and C3 Technology LLC, along with Tech Line Coatings Inc. in California, have introduced the first waterborne clearcoat on the automotive paint market. California and Canada’s new environmental policies have pushed companies to create products that match or exceed new regulations.
