Pollution Engineering - October 2008 - (Page 42) Blower Selection ing blades, where it is again projected outward. Every regeneration cycle imparts more pressure to the air. When the air reaches a stripper section at the outlet, it is peeled from the impeller and diverted out the blower. The stripper section is located between the inlet and the outlet where the annulus is reduced in size to fit closely to the sides and tips of the impeller blades. The outcome Pressures generated by the one or two spinning, non-contacting, oil-free impellers are equal to those obtained by many larger multi-stage or positive displacement blowers. Certain application specifications tend to favor the use of regenerative blowers. When specifying such types, sales managers tend to cite three specific benefits: • Energy efficiency. In many applications, generating pressures higher than required for a certain process becomes a waste of energy. Regenerative blowers have fewer moving parts. This can result in less noise and lower maintenance costs. Photo supplied by Ametek. Only the DUSTTRAK DRX Aerosol Monitor can measure both mass and size fraction at the same time Measure PM1, PM2.5, Respirable, PM10 and TPM simultaneously No need for size-selective inlet conditioners Available in desktop and handheld models The new DUSTTRAK ll and DRX aerosol monitors simply leave everyone else in the dust. www.TSI.com/BreatheEasier 42 PLE10084TSI.indd 1 Pollution Engineering OCTOBER2008 9/11/08 1:35:29 PM http://www.TSI.com/BreatheEasier http://www.TSI.com/BreatheEasier
