The technical program integrates recent developS Y M P O S I U M ments in risk assessment, fundamental research, and innovative engineering applications for both traditional and emerging contaminants. The Symposium is organized and presented by Battelle, and sponsors are government and private organizations active in environmental site investigation and remediation. On Tuesday, May 5, eight short courses will be offered in the morning and afternoon. The exhibits and poster display will open during the welcome reception late Tuesday afternoon. At 6:30 p.m., the plenary session will feature Christopher Flavin, President of the Worldwatch Institute, who will share his views on the need to build a low-carbon economy. Wednesday through Friday, the program consists of approximately 450 platform and poster presentations scheduled in 39 sessions and one panel discussion (“Sustainability in Remediation—Issues and Opportunities”).
