MATERIALS MICROSCOPE The Eclipse MA200 is an inverted materials microscope designed for digital imaging and operator ergonomics. The microscope uses integrated intelligence to automatically combine captured images with data on their observation settings for more comprehensive documentation. Additionally, its box design allows easy access to the sample on the stage and nosepiece, while making the footprint size one-third of the conventional model. The 1X objective lens enables macro observation with actual field of view of 25 millimeters, making it possible to view the whole area of an embedded metallurgical sample. In addition, it offers a range of contrast methods including episcopic bright field, episcopic dark field, differential interference contrast microscopy (DIC), simple polarizing and episcopic fluorescence. NIKON INSTRUMENTS INC. (800) 52-NIKON WWW.NIKONINSTRUMENTS.COM REPLY 601 LASER SCANNER The LaserGauge HS701 DSP sensor is a handheld laser profiler with on-board processing, nonvolatile memory and a color display. The sensor functions autonomously, capturing 2-D surface scans, digitizing profiles, extracting dimensional measurements and analyzing contour features without having to connect to any other device. All of the company’s LaserGauge measurement methodologies are supported by the sensor, including standard virtual gages, custom algorithms and match-to-computer-aided design (CAD) templates. The sensor weighs 20 ounces, which includes the rechargeable, lithium-ion battery that provides up to four hours of continuous operation. The sensor also can be operated as a USB device attached to a laptop or tablet PC, providing inspection routine capabilities, enhanced graphics and automatic scan saving. The first two models are for high vacuum to 10 to 7 millibar, the latter is for ultrahigh vacuum up to 10 to 11 mbar. The LIF and LIP encoders consist of a glass scale, scanning head and the interface electronics. The cable between the scanning head and interface can be up to 3 meters in length. The vacuum compatible interface electronics can be placed either inside or outside the vacuum chamber. Available encoder accessories include fixing clamps, fixed point holders, vacuum feedthroughs, vacuum-compatible epoxy and extension cables.
