RealTime - Fall 2008 - (Page 7) NEWS >> IPSP PARTNERS >> Intermec Releases Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 on CN3 The Intermec CN3 mobile computer is the first rugged handheld to operate on Windows Mobile 6.1. The CN3, designed for mobile workers performing mission-critical tasks for in-field and in-premise applications, combined with Windows Mobile 6.1 offers users advanced features including enhanced virtual memory, increased application speed and faster boot-up times to maximize business operations. The operating system also boasts an improved user interface with increased performance and stability. “This solution will enable companies to keep employees connected to enterprise data systems and communicate in real time with their mobile workforce to drive improved efficiencies and increased asset visibility across their operations,” said John Kemp, senior director of Mobile Systems and Solutions for Intermec. Users of the CN3 featuring Windows Mobile 6.1 can also take advantage of Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager (SCMDM) to gain new provisioning, configuration, management by policy, security features and improved control for mobile system and application management. Mobile Device Manager helps IT professionals manage devices similar to the way they manage PCs. Using administrator-driven management policies, Mobile Device Manager enhances on-device security, making it easy to provision, configure and deploy devices while giving mobile employees access to confidential information on corporate networks with firewalls. Intermec is currently the only rugged device manufacturer to offer support for Mobile Device Manager. “Over the past year we have expanded our end-to-end enterprise solutions by introducing Windows Mobile 6.1 and Mobile Device Manager,” said Microsoft director Grace Ho. “We are pleased to work with Intermec and believe the CN3 will empower mobile workers with the highest degree of performance and manageability available in a ruggedized device.” ❙ > Ahearn & Soper, Inc. > Alpha-Hunkar Systems > American Barcode and RFID Inc. > Barcoding, Inc. > DBK Concepts > The Data Group (Relizon) > General Data > Heartland Computer > Informatics-System ID > Integrated Labeling Systems > Lowry Computer Products > Miles Data Technologies > Qdata > Raco Industries > RedLine Solutions, Inc. > The Ryzex Group > Trident Computer Corporation > ADC Integrated Systems, Inc. > iTek Services For a free subscription: www.realtime.intermec.com 7 http://www.realtime.intermec.com
