RealTime - Spring 2008 - (Page 41) EVENTS “ Reduced time spent on calls and better monitoring have contributed to DJK being able to handle more customers without any decline in quality of service.” – Henrik Egsgaard, DJK administrative director and project leader 28 – 30 MAY 1 – 2 JULY 8 – 10 JULY Events Calendar > > Cisco Networkers 2008 LatAm When: 28 – 30 May Where: WTC Hotel, São Paulo, Brazil Cisco Live When: 22 – 26 June Where: Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Fla., USA Mail Express & Delivery When: 1 – 2 July Where: Novotel London West Hotel, London, UK flow of information between the control room and mobile computers, the guards’ safety has also increased. They can, for example, trigger an alarm directly from the mobile computer if they encounter a problem. “Reduced time spent on calls and better monitoring have contributed to DJK being able to handle more customers without any decline in quality of service,” Egsgaard said. “When there is a large number of alarms simultaneously and we need to contact several guards at the same time, the system works perfectly. It has become significantly easier for us to forward each alarm to the appropriate guard. Instead of ringing, now we only need to press a few keys.” Supply Chain Asia Forum When: 8 – 10 July Where: Grand Copthorne Hotel, Singapore Movimat 2008 When: 5 – 8 August Where: São Paulo, Brazil RFID World When: 8 – 10 September Where: MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nev., USA PostExpo/CPL When: 30 September – 2 October Where: Excel, London, UK Continuous development of the system Installation and use of the software and the Intermec mobile computers have worked without any problems. But given DJK’s dependence on having a robust and highly reliable information system that always works, they have formed a development group together with the users, which has met continually since its implementation to develop the system further. “It is important that the solution be developed together with the guards, since it is their mobile computers we communicate with on a daily basis,” Egsgaard said. “Corrections and new applications are based on feedback from the guards.” The software is ready for the Intermec CN3, which is now being tested by DJK so they will soon be able upgrade the technology. “The market for mobile solutions for security and security-guard companies is growing rapidly,” said Vium Andersen. “The need for optimal security and flexible operation is growing in line with technological development. Security companies must be able to act in real time, for the sake of both the customer and the guard.” DJK has seen customer loyalty and demand grow since the implementation of the new information system. It is clear that customers want the security companies they engage to have a subcontractor that adopts the system DJK uses. “Communication between us and the guards is more efficient and reliable than ever before,” Egsgaard said. “There is complete coordination between the software and the mobile computers. The guards receive all the information they need quickly and at the same time no information is lost along the way, meaning all parties are happy.” ❙ Emma Håkansson can be reached at Emma.hakansson@informedia.se.
