Insider News & Business Ionit Technologies Partners with Walgreens; Places DVR Systems in Stores Nationwide Walgreens, America’s largest drug store chain, just completed installing and networking Ionit Technologies Inc.’s digital video recording (DVR) system to monitor, manage and protect more than 6,200 stores, facilities and distribution centers around the country. According to Ken Amos, director of loss prevention for Walgreens, placing Ionit Technologies’ state-of-the-art networked DVR solution in every single store is the biggest overhaul of CCTV in the company’s history. Ionit Technologies designed real-time based custom software for the chain’s 16-channel digital video recorders located in each store. Using Ionit’s advanced recording CODEC, the technology can compress data up to 2,000 times and interface with both analog and digital cameras. This new DVR system has the capacity to add more cameras as needed per location, giving Walgreens several months of reliable recording time. “The No. 1 concern for businesses today is physical security – keeping employees and customers safe. Walgreens sees the value in using Ionit systems for business intelligence with add-on modules that will increase not only customer safety, but the customer’s experience in their stores, as well,” stated Ionit Technologies’ CEO and founder, Jim Talbot. Michael Drawbaugh, president of West Branch Security Systems, will continue working with Select Security as the central region manager, and the Williamsport office will remain the permanent location for installation, sales and service. The acquisition was completed March 6, 2008, shortly after Select Security’s acquisition of Hazleton-based SecurityNet LLC. Select Security obtained the entire base of West Branch’s residential and commercial customers.
