Schmidt succeeds John Kalal, who will be taking a fulltime role as vice president of supply chain bakery supplies North America for CSM, Caravan Ingredients’ parent Zylkowski Schmidt company. Schmidt has 15 years of operations experience, having previously worked for Cargill, Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery and Givaudan Flavors Corp. He received a B.S. in chemical engineering from Montana State in Missoula, Mont., and has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Webster University in St. Louis. Caravan also hired two account executives for Anderson its specialty ingredients division. Lisa Zylkowski has 10 years of sales experience in the food industry, working in product development and quality assurance arenas. James Anderson has more than 25 years of experience in the food ingredient industry, holding various regional and national account sales and marketing roles. MAC, Clyde Materials Integrate Operations Clyde Process Solutions acquired MAC Equipment last year and now has integrated the conveying and injection technologies of Clyde Materials Handling with Kansas City, Mo.-based MAC Equipment for the North American market. The new MAC Equipment brand retains the characteristics that have helped build its business in the process industry while incorporating the brand assets inherited from its parent company, Clyde Process Solutions, which is based in the United Kingdom. Through the integration of Clyde Materials Handling’s U.S. operations with MAC Equipment, MAC now offers the snack and baking industries a wide range of material handling and air filtration solutions. These new solutions include dense phase pneumatic conveying for high-tonnage, low-velocity transportation of difficult raw materials, pneumatic injection for high-accuracy and reliable injection of materials direct-to-process and spheri valve for low-maintenance, highly durable control of material flow, the company reports.
