Hungary Helping Truckers with Fuel Costs GOVERNMENT PLEDGES ASSISTANCE Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany has pledged to help the country’s truck drivers and transportation companies with the high price of diesel fuel. In particular, Gyurcsany is considering possible tax refunds or other relief measures that could save transporters up to 8 billion forints (US$53 million) a year. Recently, Hungary asked the European Union for permission to lower the excise tax on diesel fuel for commercial use from 56 cents a liter to 50 cents liter. However, if the EU fails to make a decision on Hungary’s request by the end of the year, or rejects the plea, the government has said it will introduce tax cuts or other measures to help cut truckers’ costs. At the same time, the government has also pledged to lift bans on commercial trucks using highways over the weekend. http://www.wbresearch.com/logipharmausa http://www.packaging.msu.edu http://www.ism.ws http://www.apics.org http://www.logichem2008.com http://www.mhc2008.com http://www.cscmp.org
