The two-day course is in conjunction with PassageMaker University, an education extension of the Trawler Fest event sponsored by PassageMaker magazine. Presented by ABYC professionals, the course will cover the basics for boat owners on how to perform simple repairs and handle troubleshooting and maintenance procedures. The course covers electricity fundamentals such as the relationship between volts, ohms, amps and watts, how to properly terminate wire, as well as some of the basic ABYC standards that apply to wire support and chafe protection. Students will learn how to use a multimeter, how to take electrical measurements for both low-voltage DC and higher-voltage AC systems, and what those measurements mean.
