Henry Depew Tallahassee, FL Fine Print Liability Congratulations on the fine article by Bob Adriance which I am sure was an eye opener for most of your readers. May I point out what I believe is one significant omission from the article, i.e. the failure to address the legal principle of strict (absolute) liability for a safety breach of any local or federal requirement. Even if the guest negligently starts a fire on your boat, if you do not have the fire extinguisher aboard, as required, and it contributes to another's death, injury or property loss, you as the boat owner are liable to the guest under this legal principle, in most, if not all, states. The violation of a statute or rule will also, in many instances, relieve the guest of even his own negligent conduct in carelessly starting the fire. The same would of course apply to the absence of a throwable life-saving device, life jackets and other mandated requirements. I believe that this additional information would be of potential great value to your readers. Thanks for putting together an always informative magazine. Marvin H. Donsky Punta Gorda, FL I am the Genie of the lamp. I have been a prisoner in the lamp for 4,000 years. For rescuing me, I will grant you one wish! Well, I have to wish for Peace on Earth. Here, I'll show you the hot-spots on this map. Whoa, that's a pretty tall order. I've been in a lamp for 4,000 years and I'm a little rusty. How about something a little more personal and closer to home? Well, OK. How about making my boat fuel-efficient, economical and trouble-free? Trouble with Trouble Spots Thank you for a great magazine. I always read it cover to cover. In the March issue, I really enjoyed “ICW Trouble Spots Caught On Tape.” I lived in Savannah, GA, for five years and sailed a Catalina 27 most every weekend seven months a year. In using the web page address in the article, all I was able to reach was a nice marine book site. Only after experimenting did I find that the web address was wrong. In this age of computers, you learn quickly that little things make big differences, like having caps-lock on when you sign in. The correct site is Cruisingguide.com which goes to Salty Southeast Cruisers’ Net and the videos. It appears the text editing program hyphenated the web address when it wrapped to the next line. I hope this is useful. Keith Dunlap Corvallis, OR Lemme take another look at the map. Thought so Cap’n Drew Brown is the author of the boating humor book, “What’s A Hoy?
