Infusing insight at the point of interaction requires serious attention to these three components. The technology foundation must provide agility for process improvement and the infusion of insight. An integrated, adaptable technology backbone that is process-, rules- and serviceenabled and ensures a consistent, complete and dynamic view of the enterprise supply chain across the entire organization is necessary. This is a critical challenge, as is ensuring the right information is delivered at the right time to optimize and differentiate customer experience. Focus of process improvement in the supply chain is around eliminating paper-based processes, providing differentiated services, offering self-service and improving collaboration with external partners. Data must be unified for a seamless experience for the supply chain manager and the sup8 plier or customer. Enterprises need a meticulous data management and integration strategy for providing value-added information that is consistent and realtime across all channels. The data foundation needs to leverage both historical and real-time supply chain data to provide more contextual applications and drive more relevant communications to increase efficiency and agility. Metrics must be in place to measure optimization. This includes human workflows and business processes that are optimized and tuned for supply chain interactions, a hierarchy of supply chain metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) derived from corporate performance objectives. It is critical that process improvements include both supplier and customer interactions. Improved supply chain performance, and therefore an agile enterprise, can only happen once a supply chain has a solid foundation of discipline and enabling technology that is optimized for process improvements and leverages actionable BPMSTRATEGIES
