PUBLIC, K–12 SCHOOL DISTRICTS The Brainerd Lakes Area is made up of seven public school districts, ranging from 750 to nearly 7,100 students. Brainerd School District 181, the area’s largest, has six elementary schools, one middle school, and one senior high school with a separate ninth-grade campus. On-campus instruction is available for most curricula, while other studies are supplemented with interactive television. The college also has a variety of sports, cultural events, and student activities. Fully 30 percent of Central Lakes College students are age 25-up and served by more than 60 degree and diploma programs designed for transfer to four-year universities or to qualify for immediate employment. In any of their programs you may find two, even three generations engaged in learning to better themselves. A special program designed for senior citizens (62-up) allows them to enroll in classes on a space-available basis for an administrative fee of $20 per credit. However if the class is taken for credit other associated fees are required. complete four-year degrees in accounting, management, organizational behavior, and natural resources, or convert an R.N. degree to a B.A. Any required lower division classes can be taken right at CLC. St. Scholastica also offers a master’s degree program in management, through an accelerated 14-month format. Students may choose a concentration in healthcare administration, human resources, or organizational development. Students may earn and AA, AS, AAS degree, a diploma or a certificate in six different trade programs, four business programs, four health and human service programs, three technology based programs, and an associate of arts transfer degree into many four-year institutions.
