The daVinci system is a surgical robotics program that represents leading-edge technology for minimally invasive surgeries for prostate cancer, gynecological surgery, and many general surgical applications. St. Joseph's Medical Center is the first rural hospital in the state to offer their patients the opportunity to recover from surgery faster through this robotic-assisted surgery option. They continue to experience one of the largest and most progressive expansion projects in the medical center’s history. Phase one of a construction project is now complete creating a new inpatient unit and a new retail pharmacy. Building an all new inpatient unit afforded CRMC the opportunity to change the way hospital care is delivered, offering spacious, private rooms with a small refrigerator, flat screen television and a fold out couch; warm, earth tone décor; decentralized care stations; and family lounges. CRMC also focused on the details of patient comfort changing traditional hospital gowns to com- fortable pajamas and a soft bathrobe. Phase two of construction added a café, a chapel, and new areas for pharmacy and ambulatory services. Attention to detail to provide a homelike atmosphere includes the sound of flowing water, large skylight, and fireplaces in the lounges. Although their has been a focus on patient and family experience CRMC continues to excel in medical service delivery earning the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™.
