Through their hard work and focus on value creation, they have become the largest dealer of Lund Boats in Minnesota, with the largest selection of new and used Lunds. Their service level also earned the 2006 Mercury CSI award for service. The company first opened in 1970 as Rapid Sport Center. During the 1980s, the Houghs shifted their emphasis to the marine market. In the 1990s, they bought Northwest Marine in Blaine, but quickly outgrew that location and moved into their current facility in Ham Lake in 1995. That is when the company officially became Rapid Sport Marine Rapid Sport Marine Center named NCMA Dealer of the Year was added in St. Cloud last March. As a result of the expansion, they offer what they believe to be the best brands in the marine industry: Lund fishing boats, Ranger fishing boats, Larson sport boats, Sylvan fishing boats and pontoons and Sunchaser pontoons. Rapid also offers Mercury, Yamaha, Evinrude, Honda and Suzuki outboards, and Mercruiser and Volvo stern drives. Contributing to their success is their belief that employees are the company’s best assets. There are many on staff with more than 20 years of experience, a few with even more years.
