Recently, the 50,000th Cobalt, a 242 model, rolled off the production line in Neodesha, [Wisconsin] on its way to Walkers Point Marina in Gravenhurst, Ontario, and its eventual display at the 2008 Toronto Boat Show. “We’re especially pleased to reach this milestone coincident with our fortieth anniversary,“ said company CEO Paxson St. Clair. “The excitement is everywhere around here, as we anticipate the arrival of our yacht-building operations back in Neodesha. Our team has already built boat number 50,001, and we’re rapidly adding manufacturing space to accommodate the new 37- and 46-foot yachts and to meet increased demand for our growing line of runabouts and performance cruisers. Coming off one of the best retail sales quarters in our company’s history, we have much to celebrate, and much to look forward to.’’ Paxson speaks of the ongoing transfer of yachtbuilding capacity back to Neodesha from Cobalt’s Vonore, Tennessee, facility. With continued focus on operational efficiency, economies of scale, and forty years of boat building expertise, Cobalt is looking to grow its product line at a single location. No permit is needed to install, construct or reconstruct the dock on property you own if you comply with the following DNR rules: • A dock is a narrow platform or structure extending toward the water from the shoreline. The strucCobalt President Sean Callan explains, “While it’s been a difficult decision to close the Tennessee facility, we have been very pleased with the support received from the state of Kansas as we come back to our manufacturing roots. The state and the community have been great partners over the years, and they have again stepped up in support of this transition.” Cobalt will be adding a significant number of new employees, including transfers of highly skilled associates from the Tennessee facility, to a team in Neodesha now approaching nine hundred in total. ■ DNR provides dock guidelines ture is not used or intended as a marina. • The structure is consistent with the guidelines of the local lunit of government. • Docks placed on rockfilled cribs are located only on waters where the bed is predominantly bedrock.
