They’re about as “downtown” as they can get. You can forget all your troubles; forget all your cares, and go downtown, where things will be great. That’s probably what members of the St. Paul Yacht Club had in mind when they located on St. Paul’s Harriet Island in 1912. The group operates two harbor facilities within Harriet Island Regional Park, with a total of 230 boat slips ranging in size from 24 to over 50 feet in length. All slips have dual 30amp electrical and water service. Anderson will oversee all aspects of the club’s operations including the 207-slip public marina located on St. Paul’s Harriet Island. Anderson brings a wealth of experience to the position including five years previous experience in the marina industry. He is also a longtime boat owner giving him unique insight into the expectations and customer service requirements of the marine recreational environment. “My goal is to make boating as easy as possible. Our members come to us to escape the often hectic, complex nature of modern life, and we provide that here at the St. Paul Yacht Club.” The St. Paul Yacht Club has been in continuous operation on St. Paul’s Harriet Island Park for over 95 years. The club and marina is a non-profit, memberowned facility featuring over 200 boating slips ranging to over 60 feet. slip-holders. They offer winter storage in the boat yard at the west end of Harriet Island. The harbors are owned and operated by a non-profit corporation founded to promote boating activities on the Mississippi River. Membership in the club entitles members to voting privileges, discounts and the ability to transfer slips with the sale of a boat. Club membership is not required to rent a slip. The group offers a referral reward program. They also offer a full- service gas dock located just outside the upper harbor mouth. The dock is manned until 6 p.m. weekdays and 8 p.m. weekends. A floating clubhouse is permanently moored in the upper harbor. The meeting room may be used for individual slipholder social events and club functions.
