It is open to the public. A four-week class will begin on May 6 at Peace Church, 7624 Cedar Lake Rd. in St. Louis Park. This is located on the north side of Cedar Lake Road, three blocks west of Louisiana. Books and course materials for this class are $35 due at registration but instruction is offered free of charge. Topics covered in these courses include: • Boat handling under normal conditions. • Adverse conditions and emergencies. • Types of boats and boating terminology. • Required and recommended equipment. • Boating regulations and navigation rules. • Marine radiotelephone usage. • Trailer your boat. • Lines and knots. • Marine VHF radio usage. • Aids to navigation.
