He is a member of the International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association and a fourth generation California native with a fondness for the good ol’ days of the Golden State—and particularly local characters like Ernie Marquez, whom he interviewed for the story “Santa Monica Beach” (where his grandparents lived in the 1920s) on page 2. Bruce Lewis (“Chasing the Rain”) lives on the rugged Mendocino Coast in Northern California, where he hunts huge winter waves and dramatic sunsets as backdrops for much of his outdoor photography. “Photography is a serious hobby,” says Lewis, whose work has been selected for two juried shows at the nearby Mendocino Art Center and sells in local galleries. His photos are also displayed in the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse, which he helps maintain as a member the local U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
