Scott London (Cover + “Painting the Street”) is a journalist and photographer best known as the host of “Insight & Outlook,” a cultural affairs program heard on many National Public Radio stations during the 1990s. He has spent the better part of two decades interviewing frontier thinkers and social innovators. His photographs have been licensed for advertising and editorial use in books, magazines, and newspapers around the world. They have also been exhibited in museums and private galleries in several cities across the U.S. Raised and educated in Sweden, Scott currently lives in Santa Barbara, California, where he regularly attends the I Madonnari Festival. See ScottLondon.com. 2. Jeff and Dana Sipper (Plugged In + “June in January” + Spotlight) are a husband and wife photography team based in Orange County, California. Michael Robinson Chavez (“Lucky Gold”) is a staff photographer for the Los Angeles Times and has been a photojournalist at the Washington Post and the Boston Globe. He has covered international assignments in over 35 countries, including: the Congolese Civil War, the war in Bosnia, Bantu refugees in Kenya, the conflict in Israel/Palestine, the recent Israeli/Hezbollah war and the US led invasion and occupation of Iraq. Michael is currently working on a long-term project about urbanization in the developing world. See RobinsonChavez.com. 4. Kathy Chin Leong (“Like Mother Like Daughter”) is an award-winning travel journalist who has written for the Los Angeles Times, Dallas Morning News, Working Woman, and a host of national publications. She recently completed a successful stint with indoor skydiving, and she has trekked the globe covering everything from the polar bear jail in Manitoba, Canada to the new Sprinkles cupcake bakery in Palo Alto. 5. Matt Kettmann (“Lucky Gold”) is the senior editor of The Santa Barbara Independent. He also writes regularly for Time magazine, Wine Spectator, and Sunset magazines, and has reported from such far-flung locales as Uganda, Bolivia, Belize, Costa Rica, and the war-torn, officially unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. 6. Abby Harenberg (“Meet Tracy Poe”) was born in Mexico, raised in California, and now lives in Chicago with her husband, Joe, and her three children, Ryan, Amy, and Jason. Photography is her biggest hobby, and she enjoys volunteering her skills to help good causes. She is a member of CPPA and DWF, and enjoys networking with people who have similar interests. 7. Gary and Pierre Silva (“Like Mother Like Daughter”) are a husband and wife photography team with a studio in Ventura, California. The couple has 25 years of experience and a broad portfolio of clients. They have been published by Carlton Books of London and have standing exhibits of their fine art work in galleries in Geneva and Barcelona. Elizabeth Borsting (“The Godfathers of Grit”) is a freelance writer and public relations consultant for the hospitality industry. Her writing credits include Celebrity Weddings & Honeymoon Getaways, 101 Top Honeymoon Destinations, Best of Northern California, and Explorer Guide’s Los Angeles, The Complete Residents’ Guide, just to name a few. Her work has also appeared in the Los Angeles Times and National Geographic Traveler. She and her husband, Kurt, reside with their two children, Jake and Katie, and pup, Ruby Jean, in Long Beach, California. 9. Collin Martin (“The Godfathers of Grit”) is a native of the Chicago suburbs. After graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago, he took up photography as a hobby. Within five months of getting his first digital SLR, he quit his job and started working solely as a photographer. Today, Collin works out of his studio in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, focusing on fashion, beauty, and musicians. You can view his work at CollinMartin.com. 10. Jenny Angelici (“Mid-Century, Not So Modern”) finds inspiration in anything from her minivan to concrete dinosaurs, and has been known to write about it. A former advertising manager who loved writing clever ad copy and quirky radio spots, she now finds her writing outlet through blogging for the Orange County Register.
