Publication credits include Backpacker Magazine, View Camera magazine, Brooks/ Cole, The Wilderness Society, Nature Photographers Network, Body-Mind Music, and more. Jesse Nash (“Q&A Richard Branson”) Jesse Nash has been called the “leading journalist in America.” He has contributed features to some of the most well known magazines and newspapers in the world, including Rolling Stone, the New York Post, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, and Elle, to mention a few. He has also been responsible for breaking some of the world’s most infamous celebrity news stories, including the late Frank Sinatra’s death and the late Ella Fitzgerald’s leg amputation. Currently, Mr. Nash is working on a celebrity book entitled “Star Chaser,” a photo show of his travels to be unveiled in 2008, supported by a coffee table photo book entitled “THE HUNDRED GREATEST PHOTOS i’ve ever taken.” He resides in New York’s trendy Hamptons. Broughton Quarterly Winter 2008 Kym Balthazar (“Q&A Richard Branson”) Focusing on caricature and editorial illustration, Kym has been illustrating professionally since 2001. Her mixed media pieces utilize a variety of artistic tools, from the traditional to current technology. A graduate of the University of the Arts with a BFA in Illustration, she has won the Harriet Pauline Hughes Award for pen & ink illustration and received honorable mention in the William H. Ely Excellence in Illustration competition. A few of Kym’s recent clients include MovieMaker Magazine, Free Inquiry Magazine, and XXL Magazine, to name a few. Matt Kettmann (“Introducing Doctor Robot”) A fifth generation Californian from San Jose and graduate of UCSB, Matt Kettmann is the senior editor of The Santa Barbara Independent and www.Independent.com. He also writes regularly for Time Magazine, Wine Spectator, and Sunset magazines, and has reported from such far-flung locales as Uganda, Bolivia, Belize, Costa Rica, and the war-torn, officially unrecognized NagornoKarabakh Republic. Star Wars was released the year he was born, which is why he’s always wanted his own C-3PO. Thanks to robot inventor Yulun Wang, who Kettmann profiles on page 20, that may one day be possible. Suzanne Broughton (“Notes”) A full-time mom and part-time blogger/ writer, Suzanne lives in Orange County with her husband, two kids, and a ridiculous number of pets. Her schitzophrenic background includes stints in video production, television writing, high-rise property management, restaurant management, event planning, and general social commentary—all of which have equipped her to take on the strange new world of blogging. Suzanne also finds time for her family, Disneyland, David Sedaris, Diet Coke, and Emily Bronte. She’s particularly fond of making her husband, Larry, laugh at inappropriate moments and offering her unsolicited opinion, which made her an ideal candidate for lifestyle editor of BQ.
