Renovating an aging 150-room oceanfront hotel into an upscale facility is just another day at the beach for Buchart Horn's engineers. Working with John C. Haas Associates, Inc. and the The Shaner Hotel Group, the Firm prepared plans to demolish part of the existing facility and designed alterations to transform an outmoded facility into a modern Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Buchart Horn engineers were critical for the $20,000,000 complete makeover of the entire facility, including replacement of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems with new energy efficient systems to address Florida's humidity and resist corrosion from salt air. The entire plumbing system, from bathroom fixtures to sewer line connections, was redesigned and improved. Buchart Horn electrical engineers designed a new telecommunication system for the entire facility, replaced old panel boards and rewired the building to meet Marriott Courtyard standards.
