CAC Helps Young Refugees Craft New Beginnings.
Buffalo's State Community Academic Center (CAC)
initiated "Buffalo Beginnings" in 2015, a partnership
program between the CAC and Journey's End Refugee
Services that meets at the International School (School
45). Free to participants ages 4 to 15, the program
teaches academic and practical skills including letters,
numbers, months, seasons, and time. Students enrolled
in the program have recently arrived as refugees from
countries such as Nepal, Burma, Uganda, and Somalia.
The CAC offers an additional "Buffalo Beginnings"
course for older students.

The Small Business Development Center at Buffalo State
helped bring the popular Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers
Market to the Buffalo State campus during the winter
and community identity, with an overarching focus on
September 16 and 17, delving into social, racial, sexual,
social justice. The multidisciplinary conference attracts
thousands of visitors to campus each September.
