The Student Philanthropy Council (SPC) partnered
with advancement organizations around the world in
celebration of the Council for Advancement and Support
of Education's fourth annual Student Engagement and
Philanthropy Month in February 2016. The SPC organized
activities to engage peers in higher education philanthropy,
including sending thank-you notes to more than 2,000
donors, staffing tables in the Campbell Student Union to
allow students to share what they love about Buffalo
State, and partnering with the Class of 2018 to inspire
young philanthropists.

grant in January 2016 from the Andrew W. Mellon
Foundation to support the Art Conservation Department's endeavors in library and archives conservation
education. The one-year grant will fund the development
and coordination of a ﬁve-year plan for a cooperative
project with two other art conservation graduate programs
in the United States-the Conservation Center of the
Institute of Fine Arts at New York University and the

This is one of the largest individual gifts ever made
to the college. In addition, the Markos' planned gift
of $650,000 to the Siena Program, the oldest
study-abroad program in the SUNY system, will offer
future Buffalo State students the same transformative
study-abroad experience that Fairchild Marko had
when she traveled to Siena as a student.
