13 Peterson Society Inducts

Burchfield Penney for its outstanding work to
collect, preserve, and provide access to materials
that document the creative community in Western
New York, including maintaining the records of
more than 2,700 regional artists and arts organizations. The award was presented to curator and

Burchfield Penney Wins
Two Design Awards.
The Burchfield Penney Art Center was honored
with two awards for Excellence in Publication

New Members.
Fifteen new members were inducted into the
Peterson Society at a luncheon held at the Buffalo
Club in September 2016. The luncheon recognized
new inductees as well as the over 100 existing
members of the Peterson Society for their
generosity to the college. The Peterson Society
is the college's honor society for those who have
made a gift to the college in their wills or through
other estate-planning means.
14 Golf and Tennis Scholarship Classic
Benefits Honors Program.
The Buffalo State College Foundation hosted its
19th annual Golf and Tennis Scholarship Classic
at the Brookfield Country Club in Clarence, New
York, in September 2016. The event raised just over
$77,000. Proceeds from the event support Buffalo
State's Muriel A. Howard Honors Program, which
is funded entirely by private donations.

Design from the American Alliance of Museums in
2016. The center's annual report, titled "Detail,"
category for museums with annual budgets greater
than $750,000. And the exhibition catalog and
vinyl album Charles Burchfield: A Resounding Roar,
produced in conjunction with the exhibition of the
same name, received the Innovations in Print award
for museums with annual budgets greater than
$750,000. The publication was written by Tullis
Johnson, manager of archives and curator, and
Don Metz, associate director and head of public
programming. Both publications were designed
by White Bicycle.

Buffalo State Fetes Scholarship Donors,
Winners at Breakfast.
More than 350 scholarship recipients, donors, and
families filled the Campbell Student Union Social
Hall for the third annual Scholar-Donor Breakfast
in September 2016 to celebrate Buffalo State's
scholarship recipients and their benefactors. The
breakfast was hosted by President Katherine S.
Conway-Turner and sponsored by Chartwells USA.
More than 200 privately funded scholarships
provide more than 500 deserving Buffalo State
students with scholarships ranging from $250 to
$7,000 annually.
