Human Trafficking the Subject
of Buffalo State Conference.
Buffalo State hosted a two-day conference,
"Human Trafficking: Strategies for a Solution," in
October 2016 to draw attention to the worldwide
problem of human smuggling and forced labor.
The interdisciplinary and transnational conference
featured a documentary film screening, plenary
and keynote speakers, and several panel discussions.
Topics included the use of digital technologies
in human trafficking, efforts to identify victims
of human trafficking, and medical treatment
Hispanic Heritage Celebration
Features Michael Reyes.
Renowned playwright and poet Michael Reyes
delivered the keynote address "Mexican/Chicano
Identity and History through Spoken Word" in
October 2016 as part of the annual Hispanic
Heritage Month celebration at Buffalo State. A
motivational speaker and poet, Reyes combines
history, current events, and performance into a
fusion of education and entertainment. He has
been featured on HBO, CNN, and National
program, Feibischoff has enjoyed a successful
career and is currently a producer for ESPN.
His work has garnered seven Emmy Awards.
He received the college's Distinguished Alumnus
Award during the May 2017 Commencement

Michaela Angela Davis, writer, activist, and
CNN contributor, delivered the keynote
address at Buffalo State's Martin Luther King Jr.
Celebration in February 2017 at the Burchfield
26 Emmy Award-Winning Sports
Producer, Alumnus Addresses Students.
Buffalo State alumnus Eduard Feibischoff, '79, an
Emmy Award-winning television sports producer,
addressed communication students during a twoday visit to campus in October 2016. Feibischoff,
who suffered from a rare degenerative disease
and spent his early childhood in leg braces, went
on to play soccer and wrestle in high school.
A graduate of Buffalo State's communication
Penney Art Center. The event kicked off the
college's Black History Month celebration. Davis's
storied career includes stints as a fashion director
and editor of magazines such as Essence, Vibe, and
Honey; BET's editorial brand manager; and editorial
lead of the award-winning rebrand of Centric-the
first network designed for black women. Buffalo
State celebrated Black History Month with a slate
lectures, workshops, concerts, and poetry readings
that were free and open to the public.
