Burlington, West Burlington Iowa 2009 Community Guide

Through the lens of a camera, Kim LaFauce takes in the views of Greater Burlington. Her love for photography has brought her home to the area and given her the opportunity to start her own business in downtown West Burlington. Kim grew up in Burlington and met her husband here. After graduating high school, Kim attended Hawkeye Community College and received her Associates of Applied Arts in Professional Photography. She continued to gain experience and worked in the industry as a photojournalist for the Waterloo, Iowa Courier. Her goal was to someday own a business and cultivate her creativity through the lens of her camera. In 2004, she did just that. She moved back to Greater Burlington and opened her own studio, Kim Anne Photography. In 2006, she took on a new challenge and renovated a downtown West Burlington building for her current studio. The studio was a blank canvas, and Kim designed a modern studio that all ages love. The plush couch when you walk in the door is very inviting, and the big screen TV for showing proofs completes the total experience. “My favorite part of owning my own business is meeting and working with all of my wonderful customers and getting to know them on a personal level. I love meeting new people and doing new things,” Kim comments with a smile. “Even though I have become a jack of all trades in the business world, nothing is better than photographing my customers!” Greater Burlington has been a great place to grow up and return to for Kim and her husband. “I feel safe here, and I love the area,” says Kim. “I think our downtown is very unique and is so positive for the community. I would love to see downtown grow and prosper even more. People that visit here love it, and by taking care of it, I think we would draw even more visitors to the area.” “My favorite thing to do here is to go out for dinner and dancing,” Kim says. “I love all of the fireworks during the 4th of July celebration in West Burlington. The block party on Broadway is always a great time for people of all ages.” “If you are new to the area or thinking about moving back, the area is wonderful to raise your children, and there are tons of community activities to participate in year round,” says Kim as she smiles, pulls out her camera, and gets ready for her next shoot. www.growburlington.com 1 http://www.growburlington.com
