She got out of the business in 1965, there was a brief lull, and then Johnson relaunched the business as Energy Companies in 1969. As owner and president of Energy Companies, Johnson has used his lifelong experience to run the company the best way he sees ﬁt. “We are service-oriented, and that is the key in this business,” he stresses. “Customers can buy fuel from anyone – but they buy from us because we deliver on time and do our job the way it needs to be done. Most importantly, we are honest. That’s all there is to it.” It may be simple – serve clients well and honestly – but Johnson points out that other ﬁrms don’t follow the same philosophy. “Every company has had to deal with dishonesty, but our difference is that we don’t tolerate it,” he says.
