The Vancouver-based junior exploration company says it owns the rights to the largest undeveloped lead-zinc deposit in the world. “We commonly refer to this project as ‘Canada’s national treasure in zinc,’ and there is getting to be a number of people that agree with us,” Meade says. As a geologist with more than 40 years of experience in exploration, development, environmental permitting and compliance, and project and exploration financing for major and junior exploration companies, Meade’s assertion holds significant merit within the exploration industry. “Junior companies aren’t supposed to own or develop the major mines and are viewed as not having the experience, endurance or financial capability to do so,” he notes. “That might have been true 20 to 30 years ago, but I don’t think that’s true today. “Many of the people who work for junior companies were trained by the major mining companies and therefore do have the experience,” Meade points out. “Because the major companies have exited exploration and now serve as developers and operators, it has created a market opportunity for juniors to access the investment community. “Little companies aren’t supposed to develop big mines, so the feeling is that WINTER 2011 http://www.EXPLORATION-PROCESSING.COM
