[ BANKING & FINANCE ] + PRO S PE R I N C . “I realize that the only reason I’ve found success myself is because I’ve had some amazing mentors.” -Ethan Willis, CEO // Prosper has worked with more than 65,000 students in 76 countries. Helping Students ‘Prosper’ Prosper Inc.’s network of expert mentors provide guidance and personalized curriculum to help students achieve their personal and professional goals. BY K AT E B U R ROW S The Provo, Utah-based company provides personalized coaching services to students in six different areas: personal finance, e-commerce, online stock market investing, entrepreneurship, personal development and real estate. Students are paired with industry experts with the personal experience to know the skills and talents needed to find success. “Helping people find success has always been a passion of mine, because I realize that the only reason I’ve found success myself is because I’ve had some amazing mentors,” Willis says. “In the early days, one of my personal challenges was that I had never run a 50- person business before, and I thought I had to be good at everything,” he continues. “I thought I was the epicenter of the operation, but I quickly realized that it’s not what I can do to help the company, it’s about finding people who are experts in their own areas of the business that will really help us grow.” Expert Partners Today, Prosper employs approximately 400 individuals and continues to grow its network of expert mentors worldwide. Many of these mentors are high-profile individuals in their fields, all with a passion to help others succeed. Coaches and Ethan Willis may be CEO of a multimillion-dollar firm – and founder of six other businesses – but he is quick to attribute any success he’s found today to his network of talented mentors who have guided him along the way. As a result of the knowledge and experience he gained from his own personal coaches, Willis founded Prosper Inc. to focus solely on connecting aspiring business owners and entrepreneurs with solid, experienced mentors. Since the company’s inception in 1999, Prosper has worked with more than 65,000 students in 76 countries around the world. 24 MANAGEMENTTODAY-MAGAZINE.COM WINTER 2011 http://www.MANAGEMENTTODAY-MAGAZINE.COM
