Countless engineering firms across the United States backed away from their market status as a onestop shop, instead focusing on a specific set of capabilities. But that’s not the case at S.A. Robotics, which embraces its ability to take its clients’ projects from design to delivery. “There are a lot of companies, including some big A/E (architecture and engineering) firms that used to be a one-stop shop and did design, the actual construction and fabrication of the facilities to go along with that,” COO Bill Kirby says. “But they went way from having fabrication facilities quite a while ago. “But customers can come to a company like ours without a detailed design and we’ll design it, fabricate it, test it while they observe and tell us what they like or don’t like,” Kirby adds. “We’re a very efficient company, and we deliver a fully tested component to the customer.” S.A. Robotics designs, builds, tests and deploys a variety of remote handling, robotic and containment systems for use throughout the United States and the world. The company offers five main services: > Robotic systems – The company designs and fabricates industrial equipment used for the decommissioning of high hazard sites, and can add on automation capabilities for entry into unsafe areas. > Glovebox and containment – This division provides gloveboxes and containers to the U.S. Departments of Energy (DOE) and Defense (DOD). > Exotic material fabrication – S.A.Robotics boast an in-house carbon fiber SPRING 2010
