Carlsbad Visitors Guide 2008 - (Page 11) at NAMM Headquarters in Carlsbad, the Museum tells stories of hard work, challenge, inspiration and pioneering innovation, and reveals the profound relationship between the industry, popular music, and global culture. The Museum serves as a resource for the community of NAMM members through the preservation, interpretation and sharing of the industry’s collective history in a public museum context. In addition, it reveals the unique and often unknown story of the music products industry to the general public. And, through intimate concerts, films, discussions, hands-on workshops, volunteer opportunities and programs for underserved youth, the Museum opens doors to enable people of all ages and walks of life to find their way into the richly kaleidoscopic world of music making. The Magee House (258 Beech Avenue, 760.434.9189) is home to the Carlsbad Historical Society’s museum and archives. The Magee House is furnished in a turn-ofthe-century style reflecting the life of the early Carlsbad settlers who once owned the house. Displays of the area’s agricultural community are housed here to educate the public. The historical gardens feature a nationally registered Rose Garden. New Village Arts Theatre (2787 State Street, 760.433.3245) is Carlsbad’s awardwinning professional theatre. New Village Arts has become known for outstanding ensemble work and intensely thrilling productions. Founded by graduates of the Actors Studio Drama School, New Village celebrates the power and passion of the artist in an intimate indoor space, and then brings the show outdoors for the Free Shakespeare in the Park in August.
