DEL MAR While trade shows and exhibits are held throughout the year, the Del Mar Fairgrounds and Racetrack really come alive in mid-June until early July when it becomes the site of the San Diego County Fair and for horse racing season beginning in late July. ENCINITAS Quail Botanical Gardens is dedicated to the conservation of rare and endangered plants from around the world. Located on over 30 acres, the gardens feature rare bamboo groves, desert gardens, a tropical rainforest, California native plants, Mediterranean climate landscapes, a subtropical fruit garden and an interactive children’s garden.
