The hotel group, which also includes the Adlon in Berlin, will manage this spectacular recreation of a legend to the exacting high standards for which it is renowned. The luxury resort combines the classical, nostalgic charm of the “White City by the Sea” with contemporary facilities, programmes and services. With the Grand Hotel, Kempinski Hotels & Resorts intends to set new benchmarks in the resort hotel business in Europe. CLASSIC give an idea of the character that the total of 225 rooms and suites will have. “There are no two rooms alike,” emphasised Managing Director Thomas Klippstein, not without pride. Depending where the guest will stay, each will find their room in the same style and with the same standard of comfort, but each will have a different layout and furnishings. The furnishings reflect in each case the architecture of the building. Guests in the Severin Palais, a new building in classical style, can expect a classically elegant yet modern style.More masculine on the other hand is the romantic Hohenzollern Castle inspired by the gothic style. Light-coloured furniture in combinations of beige, green and ADVERTISEMENT rose give the rooms and suites in the Severin Palais a friendly atmosphere. Like the building, the interior is inspired by classicism. The planners have succeeded in achieving a fine balance between an antique effect and modern aesthetics. Without lapsing into ostentational kitsch or modern minimalism, they have created luxury in a reduced use of forms. Discreet, plain coloured or striped materials lend a sense of tranquillity to the rooms, exquisite textiles like velvet and linen for the sofas and curtains purvey the feeling of noblesse. Velvet and silk in the Hohenzollern Castle givesa colonial effect. Here the designers have chosen a radiant blue with light accents and mahogany furniture.
