CDM News - August 2007 - (Page 17) CDM Expands Service in Central and Eastern Europe On May 17, CDM acquired the Polish environmental consultancy PROEKO, headquartered in Warsaw, Poland. PROEKO, active in the Polish market since 1991, provides specialized consulting services in environmental protection, with core expertise in environmental investment, policies, and program development; integrated pollution prevention and control and other permitting; environmental assessments and audits; and renewable energy. The Wellness Councils of America recently awarded CDM a Silver Well Workplace Award—recognizing the firm “among the elite group of America’s healthiest companies.” Be Well, CDM’s employee health and wellness program, was evaluated by a panel of reviewers who, through designation of the Well Workplace Award, acknowledged CDM’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of its employees. Water for People Workplace Giving Campaign During May, CDM and our employees participated in the firm’s third annual Water for People Workplace Giving Campaign, raising more than $120,000 through employee giving and corporate contributions for this international nonprofit organization. Founded in 1991, Water for People is committed to improving the quality of life in developing countries by supporting the development of sustainable drinking water resources, sanitation facilities, and health and hygiene education programs. CDM congratulates the Singapore Public Utilities Board (PUB) on receiving the 2007 Stockholm Industry Water Award from the Stockholm International Water Institute. PUB was recognized for their “holistic approach to water resources management … in a unique and challenging urban island environment.” CDM is pleased to have partnered with PUB during the past 30 years on projects that directly advance the organization’s mission to ensure an efficient, adequate, and sustainable supply of water. To learn about CDM’s collaboration with PUB on the innovative Marina Barrage, visit www.cdm.com/cities and click on Singapore under Success Stories. 2007 Stockholm Industry Water Award Groundbreaking Ceremony—Plainville, Connecticut Water Pollution Control Facility Upgrade AGC Safety Award CDM won the California Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America Safety Excellence Award in the Heavy Contractors Division (more than 500,000 hours of construction completed in 2006), competing with 19 other firms for this prestigious honor. This award qualifies CDM for entry into the national AGC safety competition, where we have placed among the top three finishers in 3 of the last 6 years. The 3-year, $25 million initiative includes the decommissioning of the current aging facility and the introduction of sequencing batch reactors to reduce total nitrogen—helping protect the water quality of Long Island Sound. 17 http://www.cdm.com/cities
