CEAnewsline CEA’s Small Business Council Wants You! F ormed in 2003, CEA’s Small Business Council (SBC) leverages CEA’s resources to serve the needs of entrepreneurs and small business owners. If you’re a CEA member with a business of $30 million or less in annual revenue, then you can join this group of CE leaders. SBC members represent every aspect of the industry and come together through live and online channels to discuss issues that affect their day-today business. The council provides its members resources and industry insights to strengthen their businesses. At SBC events, members have the opportunity to connect with other small business owners and industry partners. Many members have found opportunities to collaborate with their peers in ways they otherwise might not have considered. Within the past year, the SBC has developed new programs, like the Small Business Certificate Program and the CEA Mentor Program, that speak directly to small business member needs and boost the rewards and benefits of SBC membership. CEA’s Small Business Certificate Program provides members with the opportunity to enhance their expertise, careers and businesses. Participants who complete nine credits within a twoyear period are awarded the certificate of completion. Credits are earned by participating in webcasts and seminars at CEA events. The program gives participants the resources to improve their abilities and enhance core business skills. The CEA Mentor Program offers members the opportunity to meet oneon-one with a CE industry veteran for business guidance. SBC mentors and mentees have found the program mutually beneficial in the ideas and possible partnerships that are formed during these meetings.
