For more information and to enter, visit www.globalmediaawards.org. • C CES Keynoters Represent the CE Spectrum A nswering the question that is on everyone’s lips, CEA recently announced the line-up of keynote speakers for the 2009 International CES. The keynoters represent the spectrum of the consumer electronics, entertainment content and automotive industries. First-up on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft Corp. will deliver the pre-CES keynote address at 6:30 p.m. Ballmer joined Microsoft when he was hired by Bill Gates in 1980. He became Microsoft’s chief executive officer in 2000 and officially took over the reins from Gates this year. He is known for his unique leadership and delivery style and for his passion for the technology industry. The show officially opens on Thursday January 8 at 8:30 a.m. with a keynote delivered by Sir Howard Stringer, chairman and CEO of Sony Corp. Sir Howard joined Sony in 1997 and rose to his current position in 2005. He also serves on the board of directors of Sony Corp. and of Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Sony Ericsson. Following Sir Howard, Gary Shapiro, president Ballmer Stringer Mulally and CEO of CEA will deliver a State of the CE Industry Address. The first day of the show will conclude with a 4:30 p.m. keynote from Alan Mulally, president and CEO of the Ford Motor Co. Mulally became president and CEO of Ford in 2006 following his role as president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airlines. He is known for his innovation and dedication and was Aviation Week magazine’s 2006 “Person of the Year” as well as being recognized by BusinessWeek magazine as one of “The Best Leaders of 2005”.
