Chicago Baby - Fall 2008 - (Page 4) We specialize in kidney transplants – and superheroes Sam, now an energetic 5-year-old, was very sick his first year of life. Doctors at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin discovered he had a rare disease that would require dialysis and a kidney transplant. Sam’s dad, Aaron, volunteered to donate his kidney to help Sam. Although Aaron had his surgery at a grown-up hospital, afterward he recovered and was cared for at Children’s Hospital with Sam. That made everything easier for the whole family. While Sam and his family appreciate the care they received from one of the nation’s top-25 pediatric transplant programs, they’ll also never forget the things our staff did to put this family of superheroes at ease. Each year, more and more families in Illinois choose Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Named by U.S. News and World Report as one of America’s Best Children’s Hospitals, we also have 217 physicians listed in the 2007-2008 Best Doctors in America® database. We specialize in little ones – and the little things that make them feel better. Located in Milwaukee www.chw.org
