OUR FRIENDS A recent alum of The Costume Institute’s curatorial team (not to mention a recent bride), ELYSSA DIMANT shows off her love of fashion in three different pieces for CITY this month: “Using My Religion” (page 54), “Changing of the Guard” (page 74), and “The New Fashion Cities” (page 80). “The future of fashion as a relevant form of art continues to be questioned,” says Dimant, “so it was really gratifying for me to be able to expose all these incredibly brilliant artists.” CITY newcomer CHADWICK TYLER turns his lens on Victorian fantasy in “Will o’ the Wisp” (page 114). The native Floridian is a fresh face on the scene, having moved to New York in 2006, although he’s wasted no time since. Shooting numerous editorials, he’s developed a reputation as a model’s photographer with an uncanny knack for working with some of the hottest girls on the runway. The self-taught photographer recently collaborated with Paul Rowland on the 2008 show packages for Supreme Models. It started off with a 14-foot pair of (working) foam scissors—just another day at CITY regular DANIELA STALLINGER’s studio. The Austrian photographer teamed up with stylist Andrea Menke to photograph Lipstick Jungle star Lindsay Price (“A Cut Above,” page 82) amid the aforementioned gargantuan shears—not to mention tessellating measuring tapes and swirling dress forms—only to turn around and photograph an elegantly introspective beauty story, “Dawn and Dusk” (page 108). New York photographer EDWIN HO had never played jacks before photographing this month’s Wanted section (page 30)—a playful look at the season’s hottest accessories—and it’s a testament to his photographic skill that luxury has never looked quite so fun. The busy photographer divides his time between his NoHo residence and Asia, working on both sides of the globe with ease. Ho has also photographed for Flaunt, ICON, Marie Claire, and Elle. CITY contributing editor KRISTEN WOLFE BIELER examines ultra-premium booze and the people who can afford them in this month’s “Liquid Assets” (page 44). From an 18-year old Macallan at $170 to a 1926 Macallan at $54,000, Wolfe Bieler gives us a taste of the booming precious spirits market. “I was amazed by how many people actually fork over five or six digits for a single bottle of booze,” she says. Her bylines can also be seen in Everyday with Rachel Ray, Runner’s World, Women’s Health, and Beverage Media. A transplant from London, TOM TEODORCZUK has contributed to Radar, Page Six Magazine, and the London Observer. This month he brings us “Tunnels of Love” (page 40), an argument for finding your dream mate in the most unlikely of places—he met his wife on the Tube in London. Teodorczuk admits he may have Colin Harrison to thank for introducing the idea of meeting someone on the train in his book Bodies Electric, although, he says, “I hope we have a much happier ending.” 12 CI T Y
