ACTION FASHION: NEW YORK So Hot The Meatpacking District, the West Village, and Brooklyn may be the “it” New York shopping destinations these days, but SoHo is still a hotbed for new fashion emporiums. Here are a couple of the top newcomers this spring: Glory Chen: Slip your feet into something a bit more avant-garde when Glory Chen footwear opens at 121 Greene Street beginning in March. Designer Joy Chen’s art-, architecture-, and graphic design–inspired footwear vision all comes to life in the new 2,600-square-foot boutique. The store’s clean geometric shapes in a luxe, neutral color palette will serve as the backdrop for Glory Chen’s stacked wedges and graphic flats. Chen enlisted the help of Kramer Design Group, the creative force behind stores including Barney’s New York, John Varvatos, and Donna Karan, to help realize a vision for her first flagship. TSE: Bringing its modern approach to cashmere to 120 Wooster Street this spring, TSE will feature TSE, TSE Men, tsesay, and TSE accessories collections in its 2,500-squarefoot new location. The store, designed by architect Janson Goldstein, represents true SoHo style with original wood flooring, preserved skylights, and exposed brick walls. —RL FASHION: FOOD Fashion Fusion Can there really be a link between prawns and Prada, fettuccine and Fendi, berries and Burberry? Indeed. Restaurateurs are fusing fashion with their menus and weaving style and glamour into the ambiance. Here are four of our faves: Follia: Exhibitions of up-and-coming designers rotate monthly at Follia, with clothes draped on mannequins in the window or hung on stucco veneziano. Dine on formaggi misti while pondering whether to purchase a new skirt or a dress. 953 W. Scattered around the restaurant are 36 feet of projection screens that not only give a visual to the front of the house, but also lets you see what Chef Justin Beckett is cooking back in the kitchen.
