CITY Issue 55 - (Page 59) The café at 10 Corso Como (Corso Como 10, 39-02 654-831, www.10corsocomo.com) has been luring in fashion, design, and art-minded visitors for years, and remains a top destination today, whether you’re wooed by the garden or the pattern-heavy dining room. Arrive early, and check out the empire’s art gallery and shops, where you’ll find choice clothing, housewares, and books. While shopping, be sure to drop in on a few remarkable interiors. Viktor & Rolf’s boutique is topsy-turvy, with furniture, chandeliers, and the front door literally upside down (Via Sant’Andrea 14). The store run by Canadian fashion duo Dsquared is a luxe interpretation of the log cabin (Via Verri 4). And for housewares you can actually fit in your suitcase (as opposed to those at the fair), head to Rossana Orlandi, Milan’s answer to New York’s Moss, but in a charming old building with a private courtyard (Via Matteo Bandello 14-16, www.rossanaorlandi.com). Be sure to kick back at Orlandi’s next door restaurant, Pane e Acqua, when you’re through. To dine with the locals, head for Obika, a popular mozzarella bar. That’s right, mozzarella bar. With offerings from select producers across Italy, Obika (Via Mercato 28, 39-02 8645-0568, www.obika.it) isn’t serving up the same stuff you find in most pizzerias back home or even in the Boot. THIS PAGE, CLOCKWISE: THE VIKTOR & ROLF STORE TURNS THINGS UPSIDE DOWN. SHOP FOR SHIP HOME– WORTHY WARES AT 10 CORSO COMO OR ROSSANA ORLANDI. OPPOSITE, CLOCKWISE: GET OUTFITTED IN DSQUARED’S LOG CABIN. THE HOTEL STRAF IS A MUST-SEE, IF YOU CAN SNAG A ROOM. 59 http://www.10corsocomo.com http://www.rossanaorlandi.com http://www.obika.it
