//// ACTION Eyes on the Prize DESIGNER: TOM SCOTT Once upon a time, Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent were relative unknowns. Then, in 1954, each were awarded the Woolmark Prize for creativity and the fashion world was never the same. For the newly reinstated Woolmark Prize 2008, 10 designers from around the world will compete for cash and assistance to grow their promising collections, hopefully to the heights of their legendary predecessors. CITY friend and fave Tom Scott is the only American designer up for this lucrative award, which celebrates the sensual, sculptural aspects of knit. Scott ﬁrst became obsessed with manipulating fabrics and knits in college, and since then has gained the attention of such international retailers as Barneys New York, Ikram in Chicago, and Project No. 8 in New York.
