CITY Issue 58 - (Page 53) THE FITTING It’s funny to hea the way othe s pe ceive my pe sonal style compa ed to how I desc ibe it myself. Scott o en calls me a mode n-day ud ey Hepbu n (an awesome compliment!). I conside myself a little mo e Patti Smith, at least on this day. So Scott and I, along with the stylist, Richa d Bengsston, pulled some things off the ack that eve yone thought would meet the goal of stylishly mixing G NT items with a few things f om my own wa d obe. We settled on a b own suede t ench coat and an ove sized sleeveless ca digan f om G NT’s fall collection, and pai ed it with my own Demeulemeeste ove sized white button-down and a pai of navy Lanvin boots. Oh, and my favo ite cashme e knit hat. nyone who knows me knows I’m almost always in a hat. I love hats, and in the effo t of inco po ating G NT into my pe sonal style, it made sense to wea one fo the shoot. With my look set, we we e eady fo the next day’s session. THE STUDIO My call time was at a.m. I made su e to d ink plenty of wate the day befo e, and packed on the Benefit Depuffi ng Eye Gel in the mo ning fo added secu ity. I was a little ne vous about having someone else do my hai and makeup . . . and d ess me! I’m usually on the othe side of a shoot’s p oduction, so it was a challenge to sit back and be open to the p ocess. But eve yone was g eat and I became comfo table athe quickly. Once I was d essed we piled into the van and went st aight back to my neighbo hood: Chinatown. THE SHOOT Scott chose the co ne of East B oadway and llen St eet, just in f ont of Hong Kong Supe ma ket, fo the shoot location. The colo ful f uit stands seemed the pe fect backd op fo my fai ly subdued tonal ange. In those Lanvin heels I towe ed ove many of the nea by shoppe s (a not-too-o en occu ence fo this petite gal), and the eactions f om passe sby we e amazing: some we e cu ious, othe s annoyed as I blocked thei way, and a few just looked on and laughed. Da ting between ca s, Scott an f om the cente of the st eet to the sidewalk, captu ing f ames as I did best to stay composed. It wasn’t long befo e Scott had the ight shot and we headed back to the studio. My day as a model went by quickly, and was a lot of fun.
