CITY Issue 58 - (Page 67) BURBERRY PRORSUM NICKEL SPIKED NECKLACE “This shape of this necklace recalls the spire of a towering skyscraper. Specifically, I think of Frank Lloyd Wright’s plan for a majestic tower that would reach a mile high. Though it was never built, the building’s proportion and style is one of the best and has inspired many designs since its conception in 1956. The metallic cladding would have given it the appearance of a beautiful piece of jewelry.” LOUIS VUITTON HAT “This hat’s playful yet sculptural shape immediately reminds me of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. Frank Gehry’s sweeping and dramatic design is at once organic and technological. It also is interesting that Gehry created the “next generation Guggenheim” by visually referencing the spiral sculptural shape that Frank Lloyd Wright created in New York.” GUGGENHEIM, PHOTO BY DAVID HEALD © THE SOLOMON R.
