Dear Friends of The Virginia Explorer, I am pleased to inform you that our company, Carden Jennings Publishing Co., Ltd., of Charlottesville, Virginia, has recently purchased The Virginia Explorer. Many of you have had a long, satisfying relationship with the Explorer’s Dave and Connie Bodle, and I want to assure you that we intend to build on the accomplishments and trust that Dave and Connie have established over the years. Carden Jennings Publishing has been in business for more than 23 years, and our publications include albemarle Magazine, The Charlottesville Guide, The Lynchburg Guide and The Lynchburg Guide to Apartments and Senior Living, and The Carolina Explorer, which was purchased with The Virginia Explorer. Along with these publications, Carden Jennings also operates a medical communications division and a lifestyle division. As most readers know, The Virginia Explorer is a bi-annual publication targeted to professional tour operators, tour planners, coach operators, meeting planners, travel planners, group leaders, and others specializing in group travel. With a circulation of more than 17,000 copies each issue, The Explorer’s purpose is to enhance the group tour and meeting business throughout Virginia. By presenting itinerarybased editorial features and travel news, the magazine gives decisionmakers the information they need to strategically plan their group tours to popular destinations in Virginia. The Virginia Explorer has thrived for many years, and we are pleased with how well the magazine drives tour groups to advertisers and serves group tour planners with useful itinerary-based editorial.
